Today my family celebrated Thanksgiving. I ended up having to work for a little bit but when I came back home the holiday truly began.
Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and more. We stuffed ourselves silly for an hour while watching cartoons. Charlie Brown and Garfield to say the least, are always fashionable on said days.
We did also watch a Wrinkle in Time, but it was a bit too slow for our family.
After we all finished watching and eating, we couldn’t quite figure out what to do. We got to talking and realized that my aunt had never played poker before.
You can guess what we did next.
My uncle put on his battle face and tried to explain the game properly while the cards were dealt. She seemed to have as much understanding as we did after a lengthy explanation, so we began the game.
Guess who won the next two rounds?
My aunt took all our chips after just two rounds. Pictures were taken and laughs were shared. Mostly at my uncle who had his heavy head in his hands.
Needless to say he felt a bit ashamed.
I did end up winning my own chips back on the third try so all in all not a bad night for the home team.
Thanksgiving is a time to be honest and caring towards others. And of course, it is a time to be thankful.
I think it’s safe to say though that we are thankful to those who fold their cards. You know so we can give in to the winner and then go and have our well deserved naps.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and thanks for folding 🙂
