I was walking to work this morning, listening to my playlist on Spotify. Suddenly, a song came on that I hadn’t heard in such a long time. It reminded me of when I was in elementary school, probably around grade 8.

Those were such simple times. Not that they got that much worse, but they were definitely simple times.

I listened to my playlist and the songs that Spotify recommended to me after that and throughout this time, I was having flashbacks after flashback. After a while, I started making up stories too.

Sometimes songs do that. Not only do they bring back those perfect memories that we had stored away, but they make new ones. They create scenarios in our heads that make us happy.

I find I am in my most creative state when I am listening to music. My favourite songs usually take me back to the early to late 90’s and 2000’s.

Those were the years leading up and following my birth, so they really define who I am.

The point is, nothing makes me happier or more engaged with life than music. I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
