Shadows

Etched into the fabric of my life,
There lies a darkness.
You could say it’s rather attached to me,
One that plays hide and seek with the burning sun.
One that dances in the shimmery light of the moon.
One that reflects itself on the canvas of every wall like a broken piece of me.
It has no eyes, no heart, no soul.

It follows me around like the boogeyman at night.
It stalks my every motion, copying me in turn.
It is a playful friend, that will tease me and then disappear.
But just as I start to get lonely, there it is again, right behind me.

Etched into the fabric of my life,
There lies a darkness.
It is not evil or mean,
Just a small dark figure that resembles, me.
